Ancestor jar: Stoneware with colored porcelain and animal bones. Based on a combination of the geometrically painted houses of Northern Ghana and Southern Burkina Faso and the animist belief that bones embody the spirits of ancestors. I've always found bones fascinating and have an assortment of bleached animal skulls in my studio. |
