What is a slip?

A slip is a colored clay. This layer is brushed on while the pot is still wet and soft. Patterns can be carved through it to the clay underneath. A clear glaze covers the entire pot. This series is good on serving bowls, platters, small trays, mugs and sometimes on bird feeders. Because of the deep texture, I do not recommend heavily curved slip designs for dinner plates.
